9 Days Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Tour

Day 1, Transfer to Akagera National Park
You will either be picked up from Kanombe International Airport (Depending on your time of arrival) or be picked up from your Hotel in Kigali and be transferred to Akagera National Park in the East of Rwanda bodering Tanzania. Upon arrival, you will take an evening game drive and look out for animal species like the Lions, Elephants, Buffaloes, and so on. Dinner and overnight stay at Akagera Game Lodge

Day 2, Game drive and boat ride on Lake Ihema
You will have an early morning breakfast and set out for the game drive in the park.  This will give you sights of animals you missed out in the previous evening game drive. You will also encounter animals like Giraffes, hynas and so on. Later after lunch, you will go for the afternoon boat ride on Lake Ihema where you will encounter large herds of hippos, crocodiles and a lot of birdspecies along the lakeshores. Day 3, Transfer to Ruhengeri
After breakfat, set oout for Ruhengeri. This journey will take you through Early start for Kinigi. The journey will take you through beautiful terraced hillsides which really show much of the country’s landscape. Lunch will be en route. Dinner and overnight stay at Gorilla Nest Lodge/La Palme Hotel/Kinigi Guest House/Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge

Day 4, Gorilla trekking in Parc Nationale Des Volcanoes
Early morning you will have breakfast at the Lodge and then later be transferred to the Park Headquarters of Parc National des Volcans.  You will meet your ranger guides here who will briefly guide you on how to behave while in the forest searching for the Gorillas and also will let you know more about their behaviours and ways of life before you set off. After the briefing you will enter into the forest and search for these endangered rare mountain Gorilla species. This is a once a life adventure and an opportunity one should never miss in life. Some time the Terrain is rough and muddy and this means that you as gorilla trekkers, you have to be strong enough and also physically fit. The activity will take like 4 to 6 hours and therefore you are advised to go with your packed lunch. Return back to your lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay at Gorilla Nest Lodge/La Palme Hotel/Kinigi Guest House/Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge

Day 5, Golden monkey tracking
After breakfast at the Lodge, you will go for Golden Monkey tracking with in the Volcanoes National Park. These Golden Monkeys are the most endangered primates with in the forest. This activity will not take long like as it is when tracking the Gorillas. You will spend also less time with these primates. Return to your lodge for lunch after which you will either relax at the lodge or take a short community tour to the near by towns and villages. Day 6, Transfer to Nyungwe
After breakfast at your lodge, you will drive to Kigali city and later connect to Nyungwe forest National Park. En route visit the old King’s Palace in Nyanza. Have lunch and after proceed with your journey to the Park. Dinner and overnight at Gisakura Guest House/Nyungwe Forest Lodge

Day 7, Chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe Forest
Breakfast will be served early morning and after you will proceed to the park headquarters for briefing at 6:00am. Unlike other countries like Uganda where chimpanzee tracking activity starts at 8:00am, here in Nyungwe forest National Park the activity starts at 6:00am. You will enter into the forest when its dark but you will be able to see primate species such as Colobus monkeys, forest birds and later, you will be able to see the chimpanzees when its laready day time. Return to your lodge after the tracking for Lunch and in the afternoon, you will relax while preparing for the next day’s long forest walk. Dinner and overnight stay at Gisakura Guest House/Nyungwe Forest Lodge

Day 8, Forest walk in Nyungwe
After a fully served breakfast, you will set out with your packed lunch for a full day forest guided walk with in Nyungwe Forest National Park. On this long walk, you will visit the Kamiranzo water falls where you will enjoy your picnic lunch from. On this walk expect to see a lot of bird species and also primates like monkeys. Return back to your lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight stay at Gisakura Guest House/Nyungwe Forest Lodge

Day 9, Transfer back to Kigali and departure
Have an early morning breakfast and after transfer back to Kigali. En route to the City you will have lunch and also visit the Rwanda National Museum in Butare town. Proceed to Kigali where you will be dropped off at the Airport to catch your flight back home.
