8 Days Rwanda Cultural and Primates Safari Tour

Day 1, Arrival and transfer to Nyanza
You will either be picked up from Kanombe International Airport (Depending on your time of arrival) or be picked up from your Hotel in Kigali and be transferred to Nyanza town for a cultural visit to the Historical palace of the Rwandan King. Upon arrival at the palce, you will make a tour a round the whole place and get to know the Rwanda’s traditions and cultures which live forever. The tour will include a visit inside and outside of Mwami’s hut and also the modern palace. Dinner and overnight in Nyanza town

Day 2, Visit the National Museum in Butare and also the hotsprings
After breakfast at your lodge or Guest house, you will tranfser to Butare town where there is the Rwanda Natioanl Museum which is one of East Africa’s finnest Ethnographic collection. The Museum displays advanced Artcrafts which are traditional and also provide insights into pre-colonial lifestyles and also Rwanda’s cultural lifestyles. After this visit you will have lunch and later in the afternoon, you will visit the hotsprings in Bugarama. Dinner and overnight at the Lodge/Guest house

Day 3, Chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe forest and transfer to Lake Kivu
Breakfast will be served early morning and after you will proceed to the park headquarters for briefing at 6:00am. Unlike other countries like Uganda where chimpanzee tracking activity starts at 8:00am, here in Nyungwe forest National Park the activity starts at 6:00am. You will enter into the forest when its dark but you will be able to see primate species such as Colobus monkeys, forest birds and later, you will be able to see the chimpanzees when its laready day time. Return to your lodge after the tracking for Lunch and in the afternoon, you will transfer to Gisenyi, a town located on the shores of Lake Kivu. Enjoy an evening swim with in the lake. Dinner and overnight stay at Lake Kivu Serena Hotel

Day 4, Orphanage tour and transfer to Kigali
After breakfast, you will visit the Ross Carr’s Orphanage and then later travel to Kigali city for a short city tour. You will visit places like the Genocide Memorial sites, Local African markets, handcraft shops and so on. Dinner and overnight at Hotel Chez Lando/Okapi Hotel/Kigali Serena Hotel/Golf Hills Residence

Day 5, Transfer to Ruhengeri
You will be picked up from your Hotel in Kigali and be transferred to Volcanoes National Park in the Northwest of Rwanda. En route, you will have a good sight seeing view of the splendid Virunga Volcanoes. You will arrive at Ruhengeri and later go for a short tour with in Ruhengeri. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Nest Lodge/La Palme Hotel/Kinigi Guest House/Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge

Day 6, Gorilla trekking in Parc Nationale Des Volcanoes
Early morning you will have breakfast at the Lodge and then later be transferred to the Park Headquarters of Parc National des Volcans.  You will meet your ranger guides here who will briefly guide you on how to behave while in the forest searching for the Gorillas and also will let you know more about their behaviours and ways of life before you set off. After the briefing you will enter into the forest and search for these endangered rare mountain Gorilla species. This is a once a life adventure and an opportunity one should never miss in life. Some time the Terrain is rough and muddy and this means that you as gorilla trekkers, you have to be strong enough and also physically fit. The activity will take like 4 to 6 hours and therefore you are advised to go with your packed lunch. Return back to your lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay at Gorilla Nest Lodge/La Palme Hotel/Kinigi Guest House/Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge

Day 7, Visit the Dian Fossey Grave
After breakfast at the Lodge, you will transfer to Karisoke where Dian Fossey, a woman who carried out Comprehensive research about Mountain Gorillas in Africa was burried. At the spot where she was burried, it’s also the same spot where she burried her friendly Gorilla which was called Digit.  After the trek, you will transfer back to Kigali for dinner and overnight stay at Hotel Chez Lando/Okapi Hotel/Kigali Serena Hotel/Golf Hills Residence

Day 8, Departure
Depending on the time of your departure flight, you will have a short city tour and visit places like the Genocide Memorial sites of Murambi, Local African markets, handcraft shops, shopping malls for simple shopping and many more. Later you will be transferred to the Airport for your flight back home.
