5 Days Rwanda Primates & Gorilla Safari

Day 1: Transfer to Nyungwe forest
Leave Kigali and drive southwest to Nyungwe Forest National Park. Nyungwe Forest National Park is located south of Lake Kivu on the border with Burundi. Along the way, make stops at places of interest including local markets, the traditional palace of Rwanda’s Former King in Nyanza. Dinner and Overnight at Gisakura Guest House

Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking
After breakfast you will go for chimpanzee tracking. You may spot other primates such as the L’hoest’s monkey and the grey-cheeked mangabeys are often sighted. The birds are spectacular, though as in most tropical forests, you’ll have to look hard for them. Giant hornbills, great blue turacos and red-breasted sparrowhawks are amongst the specials, of which 24 are endemic to this section of the Rift Valley.

Day 3: Rwanda Cultural museum
After breakfast you will return to Kigali. On your back to Kigali you will make a stop over in Butare, visit the Botanical Gardens and a cultural museum. You will have lunch in Kigali City and thereafter drive north to Kinigi via Ruhengeri. Dinner and overnight at the lodge

Day 4: Rwanda Mountain Gorilla tracking
After breakfast you will transfer to Kinigi Park Headquarters to track gorillas in Parc National des Volcans. Gorilla tracking through the forest, hills and swamps can be tough, arduous and tiring, sometimes taking up to 8 hours in the forest. Dinner and overnight at the lodge

Day 5: Departure
After breakfast, you will leave for Kigali. Time permitting; you will go for a tour of the city including shopping. Transfer to airport for your outbound flight.
